Our physicians perform surgery at St.

Dr. Garber of Albemarle, North Carolina, attended the University
of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and received his medical degree
from Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston Salem. He completed
his general surgery training at North Carolina Baptist and the University
of Tennessee Memorial Hospital, Knoxville. Board Certified, American
Board of Surgery, and Fellow, American College of Surgeons,
Dr. Garber began his practice in Knoxville in 1988.
Dr. Pliagas of London Ontario, Canada, attended the University of
Western Ontario, London, Ontario, where he completed his general
surgery residency. After his general surgery training, he
went on to complete additional training in Vascular Surgery. Board
Certified, American Board of Surgery, and Fellow, American College
of Surgeons, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Pliagas began his practice in Knoxville in 1990.
Dr. Peebles grew up in south Knoxville, and graduated from the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his medical degree from
the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
After completing a surgical pathology fellowship and internship,
he served in the Air Force followed by surgical residency at University
of Tennessee Memorial Hospital, Knoxville. He is Board Certified
in Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He has been in private practice in Knoxville since 1978.
Dr. Harrell of Texas, attended Baylor University, Waco, Texas
and received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine,
Houston. He completed his general surgery training at the University
of Louisville, Kentucky. He also went on to complete a fellowship
in hepatobiliary and surgical endoscopy at the university. Board
Certified, American Board of Surgery, and Fellow, American College
of Surgeons, Dr. Harrell began his practice in Knoxville in 2001.
Dr. Campbell grew up in Oak Ridge, and graduated from The University
of Florida. He received his medical degree from University of Tennessee
Health Science Center in Memphis. He completed both his internship
and residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville.
Dr. Campbell completed one year of vascular research at the University
of Tennessee Medical Center Vascular Research Laboratory, and completed
a thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri Health
Science Center. He is Board Certified, American Board of Surgery
and Associate, American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Donald Akers, Jr. received his medical degree from the University
of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences at Memphis in 1984. He
completed his residency in general surgery from Tulane University
School of Medicine in New Orleans, a fellowship in vascular surgery
from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and an endovascular
surgery fellowship from the University of Tennessee Department of
Surgery at Knoxville.
