Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee’s Bariatric Medicine and Surgery Center has been named as one of “America’s Best Weight Loss Clinics and Centers 2025” by Newsweek magazine.
Bariatric Surgeon Mark Colquitt, MD, FACS, FASMBS, of Foothills Weight Loss Surgeons is the Medical Director of the Center.

Newsweek surveyed medical professionals including bariatricians, bariatric nurses and general practitioners for facilities they would recommend outside their own. Four quality dimensions were also assessed: staffing, equipment, patient-centered care and patient safety. Accreditation in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) was also considered.
Fort Sanders Regional’s Bariatric Medicine and Surgery Center is accredited as a Comprehensive Center by MBSAQIP. The accreditation recognizes uniform high standards of care and continuous quality improvement. The Center offers multiple bariatric surgeries, including laparoscopic Roux-en Y (gastric bypass), laparoscopic gastric sleeve, bariatric revision and conversion surgery, and repair of LAP-band adjustable gastric banding systems. Fort Sanders Regional also uses minimally invasive daVinci® robotic technology to perform bariatric surgeries.
