Insurance Accounts Receivable Representative for Premier Surgical Central Billing Office

Summary of Duties:  Responsible for timely processing of denied medical claims including all necessary follow-up communication with insurance companies and patients to ensure proper reimbursement is received.

Reports to:  Billing and Revenue Cycle Manager

Essential Functions:

  1. Work denied claims as appropriate
  2. Make phone calls to insurance companies and patients
  3. Write letters of appeal as needed
  4. Answer phone calls from patients regarding questions on accounts
  5. Process credit card payments from patients
  6. Sorts incoming faxes
  7. Maintains strict confidentiality of PHI following Premier HIPAA policy and government regulation.  Maintains strict confidentiality of employee information
  8. Any other duties assigned by the Billing and Revenue Cycle Manager or COO

The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies and experience applicable to the job position.

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Experience:  Minimum two years’ experience preferred in a medical business office setting working with insurance companies, billing, and patient collections.

Requirements:  Certificate/License:  none.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of medical billing and collections practices and Premier billing policy.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer programs, preferably medical billing programs.
  • Knowledge of Greenway/ Intergy software a plus.

Skills:

  • Skill in planning, organizing.
  • Skill in using computers and office equipment.
  • Skill in customer service principles by using appropriate phone protocol.
  • Skill in dealing with high volume of detailed information

Abilities:

  • Ability to deal courteously with patients, office staff and insurance personnel.
