Breast Reconstruction

The goal of breast reconstruction is to restore one or both of your breasts in appearance, shape and size following mastectomy or lumpectomy surgery. Breast reconstruction usually involves multiple procedures that may start at the time of mastectomy or later.

There are normally 3 options for breast reconstruction:

  • Saline or silicone implants-based reconstruction
  • TRAM or DIEP flap reconstruction using your own skin, muscle, fat and tissue
  • A combination of both methods

Your and you surgeon will explore which option is most appropriate for your body type, type of mastectomy and the cancer treatments you have undergone.

Please note: Dr. Lo has a collaboration with  Vanderbilt University Medical Center for patients wishing to undergo DIEP flap reconstruction.
