Breast Procedures

Breast Reconstruction

Many women choose to undergo breast reconstruction surgery following the removal of one or both breasts due to cancer. Breast reconstruction may involve implants or the patient’s own tissue. The reconstruction process usually involves multiple stages and procedures.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is also known as breast enlargement. Silicone or saline implants, or the patient’s own fat may be used to restore or increase breast size. Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery performed in the United States.

Breast Lift

The goal of a breast lift or mastopexy is to create a more youthful breast shape by raising the breasts, removing extra skin and tightening the surrounding tissue.

Breast Reduction and Gynecomastia

Breast reduction removes extra breast fat, tissue and skin to form a breast size more in proportion to your body. Breast reduction can also help alleviate pain and discomfort caused by the weight of the breast. Gynecomastia is the enlargement or swelling of male breast tissue. Breast reduction can also be performed to correct enlarged breasts in men.

Breast Revision

In breast revision surgery, old breast implants are replaced with new ones.  This procedure may be done in conjunction with a breast lift.

Breast Implant Removal

In breast implant removal surgery, existing breast implants and any scar tissue that formed around the implants is surgically removed. Implants may need be removed due to leakage or hardening of the implant. Breast implants are not permanent devices and are typically removed or exchanged every 10 to 15 years.
